Photographing adventurous families on their travels, vacations and camping trips is magical. Whether it's a casual documentary of a simple tent-style campground, capturing the moments of dirty feet and wild hair, roasting s'mores over the fire or lifestyle portraits with landscape backgrounds you can't get anywhere else, sign me up.
Our own family has goals of traveling in a bus conversion, me doing destination photography on the road. I've always imagined it like a "photography tour", announcing our itinerary in advance and booking sessions in all of our stops along the way. Dreamy right?
It's something I don't want to just dream about anymore, but to put into action. It's the one pipe dream we've talked about for a decade but never actually pursued and I just want to say screw it, let's do it. Because my heart is YEARRRRNING. Especially after our jaunts out of town, escaping the Arizona summer heat. Let's goooooooo!
A notable magical moment from this trip to Big Lake with my family was sneaking away before the sun came up and spending the sunrise topless, being witnessed by mama earth and feeling the subtle warm sun kisses on my skin. Magic, I tell ya.
My books are open for northern arizona summer sessions
If this sounds like something you'd want to document for your own family, I have limited availability for sessions in Northern Arizona this summer (with dates announced for the White Mountain area--Payson, Show Low, Snowflake, Pinetop, Greer, Springerville, etc). I'm offering bonus documentary camping photos to any families that book a full family session and camp with my family (camping is sacred to our family though so this is an exclusive offer, reach out if you're interested and we can chat).
